Presenter Biography
Emma Chebinou
is a Visiting Professor of French Studies at Allegheny College. Dr. Chebinou’s academic interests are
wide-ranging, from societal issues such as urban problems, violence,
discrimination/freedom and civil rights, to urban literature, cinema, pop culture, and
African (North and Sub-Saharan)/Caribbean literature. She also has research
interests in gender and religious identity; second- and
third-generation immigrants
and diaspora in literature and cinema; 20th- and 21st-century French and Francophone
studies; Postcolonial studies and African-American studies.
