Abstract

This discussion explores “confinement” through the literally enslaved figure of the Dada in Francophone Moroccan fiction, considering problematics of a romanticized and universalized image which dilutes actual and horrific realities of imprisonment or slavery, drawing on Spivak’s consideration of the subaltern within a larger framework of race/racism in Morocco today.
