Abstract

In this paper, I would like to read Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s short story "The Yellow Wallpaper" along the lines of Foucauldian critique of confinement and institutionalized violence that reinforce complex means of reductive discourses in subjecting women to calculating forms of observations and intense disciplinary rules and regulations with the dual task of managing and gaining systematized knowledge.
