Abstract

“Hick, Darling!” is a dramatic historical fiction stage play surrounding First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt and her romantic, sapphic relationship with her personal journalist, Lorena Hickok. Through the show, we reflect on how Roosevelt’s lesbianism had a profound affect on her role in politics and her family. The script is majorly adapted from a collection letters between the pair.
