Abstract
This presentation explores the challenges posed by translating constructions of gender and ethnic identity across centuries, languages, and genres when adapting classic Hispanic comedias into children’s books.
Presenter Biography
Rebecca Smith is a doctoral student in the Department of Comparative Literature at the University of California, Los Angeles where she studies early modern texts in Spanish and Nahuatl. Additionally, Rebecca works with the Digital Salon Podcast, the Urban Humanities Initiative, and Diversifying the Classics at UCLA.
