Abstract

Drawing on my experience translating early modern Spanish drama with UCLA’s Diversifying the Classics initiative and coordinating the group’s collaborative projects in a number of areas for the past 6 years, I will discuss the challenges and opportunities of leveraging institutional resources for public humanities work.

Presenter Biography
Rhonda Sharrah is a PhD candidate in English at UCLA. Her research focuses on early modern translation, publishing, and the transnational book trade. She is also a practicing translator of early modern drama as a member of UCLA's Diversifying the Classics initiative. Her chapter in the MLA's newest edition of Approaches to Teaching Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” is forthcoming this year.
