This round table seeks papers that explore George Haggerty's influence across Restoration and eighteenth-century studies; British and American gothic; the history of gender and sexuality; lesbian, gay, and queer studies; Horace Walpole; friendship studies; student engagement; and graduate-student and professional mentoring. Papers are welcome in any of these areas.
As a Distinguished Professor at the University of California, Riverside, George Haggerty was a prolific scholar internationally recognized for his work across Restoration and eighteenth-century studies; British and American gothic; the history of gender and sexuality; lesbian, gay, and queer studies; Horace Walpole; and most recently, friendship.

George was also a phenomenal teacher of undergraduates, an engaged mentor to graduate students and junior scholars, and a key figure in establishing the Queer and Trans Caucus at the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies.

This round table seeks short (5-page/10-minute) papers addressing the question, “How do we translate George’s legacy?” How might we celebrate, build on, and put into action George’s work in any of the many fields in which he taught and published?
