The Posthuman Studies panel features papers that investigate the ongoing transformation of a human subject in social, political, and transhistorical contexts. Since the introduction of Cartesian duality, as opposed to the British Empirical monism, the field of literary studies has investigated the role of language and cognition. These presentations deal with literary theory, early modern philosophy, and English literature by analyzing what it means to be human and posthuman.

Posthuman studies is an emergent field. There is a pressing exigency to offer a platform for discussions related to the influence AI, technology, land, and animals have on human cognition and its emergence. This panel can serve as a place to advance literary criticism and spark interest in future studies in literature. Moreover, given the current political climate and global technological trends, this panel is guaranteed to attract attention.
