This session showcases papers that explore any aspect of Jewish
literature and culture in Spain, Portugal, or Latin America. The session aims
to shine a light on the oft unknown or forgotten experiences of Jews and people
of Jewish background in the Iberian world and to make important connections
between these experiences across time. Topics of particular interest may
involve identity, belonging, marginalization, and relations between individuals
and societies in works by and about Jews and people with a connection to
Judaism in these lands. We also welcome papers that engage with the
conference theme, “Our Ruling Classes: Culture, Power, Conflict," although doing so is not required.
